Who is Visions Northwest?

Visions Northwest is one of Wisconsin’s nine regional economic development organizations (REDOs), dedicated to driving growth and prosperity across the state. Funded in part by the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC), we focus on advancing regional projects and supporting economic development in Northwest Wisconsin. Our members represent a broad coalition of county economic development agencies, tribal organizations, educational institutions, chambers of commerce, workforce development groups, and both the private and public sectors. Together, we work to create a thriving, sustainable future for our region.

Since its founding in 2012, Visions Northwest has played a pivotal role in fostering partnerships and coordinating economic development efforts across the region. Our primary focus is on initiatives designed to enhance the business climate in Northwest Wisconsin. In 2013, Visions Northwest took on the responsibility of serving as the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) Committee. The CEDS is a five-year, forward-looking plan mandated by the Economic Development Administration (EDA) for all federally recognized Economic Development Districts (EDDs).

The CEDS Committee uses a variety of assessment tools that shape the regional development and the goals and objectives that drive the regional CEDS. The Northwest Regional Planning Commission released the 2020-2024 Northwest Wisconsin CEDS in September, 2020. An update is currently being drafted and will be available in late 2025.
